DESCRIPCIÓN DE LA ACTIVIDAD REALIZADA

En la comarca del Deza, concretamente en el ayuntamiento de Rodeiro, se encuentra el taller artesanal de cantería de Xosé Calviño Doval.Los materiales con los que trabaja son granito autóctono, aunque a veces también puede emplear madera. Es un taller dedicado al labrado de la piedra, mampostería y sillería, a la escultura ornamental, cantería funcional y decorativa, y también rehabilitación y restauración de viviendas, muros de mampostería, etc. La principal demanda de los trabajos de este taller son panteones, remates, cruceiros, heráldica, fuentes, bancos de piedra, mesas de piedra, barbacoas, columnas, capiteles, pozos y fachadas de cantería, mampostería, sillería, arquitectura tradicional y todo tipo de cantería artística.El proceso creativo tiene diversas fases, en las que el artesano busca satisfacer lo que el cliente demanda. Una vez encuentran juntos lo que el cliente desearía, el artesano se pone manos a la obra y comienza el proceso artesanal de confección de elementos siempre únicos. Xosé Calviño procura materializar en sus piezas los deseos de aquellos que se acercan a él, siempre con la premisa de realizar un trabajo único y de calidad.

APRENDIZAJE

Ha aprendido el oficio por herencia familiar, ya que desde niño su padre le enseñó todo lo que sabía sobre la cantería. Desde el año 2000 trabaja como cantero autónomo.
