Roberto de las Heras ha sido autodidacta, pero han influido y alimentado sus conocimientos varios actores: la bibliografía del Arquitecto Enrique Nuere, el aprendizaje de su maestro el Carpintero de Armar Valeriano Gómez Teja, de la experiencia de sus carpinteros originarios de América Central, de su curiosidad cuando visita armaduras de madera, etc.Ha asistido como alumno a diferentes cursos de formación como el Máster de Rehabilitación y Restauración de la Universidad de Alcalá y otros cursos impartidos en varios lugares de España.

Son muchos los trabajos realizados: Artesonados antiguos ( Utrera, Ayamonte, Sevilla, Toledo, Soria ), Artesonados nuevos ( Catedral de Toledo ), Edificios Históricos ( Iglesias, Monasterios, etc.. )
