Diego Cano Valera

DESCRIPCIÓN DE LA ACTIVIDAD REALIZADA

Diego es maestro artesano de talla de piedra y mármol. Se inició en el oficio con las técnicas tradicionales de cantería, desde el desdoblado de la piedra, hasta el escafilado, desbaste con puntero y maza, y el acabado con herramientas como la gradina. Actualmente realiza todo tipo de elementos arquitectónicos con gran precisión en calizas y en mármol, y también está muy vinculado a la escultura.Lleva a cabo las obras utilizando herramientas y máquinas manuales, con la incorporación de algunas herramientas eléctricas manuales. El proceso de trabajo de la piedra es el tradicional. La principal ventaja del uso de máquinas eléctricas manuales es la rapidez en la ejecución de los procesos, los inconvenientes son que generan polvo en el ambiente y obligan a la utilización de sistemas para su extracción y protección personal, además de incrementar el riesgo de accidentes.
DOCENCIA
Impartió prácticas formativas en su taller a Pascual Muñoz Martínez, José Antonio Cerezuela Montalvo, Rubén García Gómez y Álvaro Fernández Muñoz entre los años 2002 y 2007.
Es monitor de formación no reglada e impartió el curso de revestimiento de planos verticales y tejados de pizarra 2011-2012, en Tabernas, Almería.
