DESCRIPCIÓN DE LA ACTIVIDAD REALIZADA

Alfonso Hidalgo Góngora es actualmente el representante de una tradición alfarera centenaria en la ciudad de Úbeda. Se ha dedicado por completo al oficio del barro, heredando métodos de antaño y perfeccionando la técnica hasta llegar a una maestría con la que, desgraciadamente, pocos cuentan en la actualidad.Su taller es uno de los pocos que cuenta con hornos tradicionales y con los conocimientos necesarios para la cocción en ellos. La elaboración es siempre artesanal, ninguna pieza es igual a otra, similares en calidad, pero siempre únicas.Alfonso realiza trabajos que su abuelo le ha legado, algunos de ellos relacionados con la construcción, como la realización de tejas, baldosas o atanores. Hoy en día es difícil encontrar este tipo de elementos de importante calibre y torneados a mano.También realiza otros trabajos de alfarería tradicional ubetense, destacando su intenso verde, que ha ido mejorando durante cientos de cocciones.Además, su alfar destaca por la realización de cientos de murales de azulejería repartidos por toda la geografía española: desde letreros de calles para las ciudades, murales de representación, señalización, zócalos, acabado de casas… Trabaja distintas técnicas cerámicas, como cuerda seca, bajo cubierta o engobado.

APRENDIZAJE

En el año 1846 se fecha la fundación de “Alfarería Góngora” por el primer alfarero de la familia Góngora que se conoce. Alfonso Hidalgo Góngora es ya la quinta generación de alfareros de la familia.Teniendo clara su vocación desde la infancia, Alfonso, aprendió tanto de su familia como de otras familias de alfareros de la ciudad, tales como “Cerámica Alameda”. Estudió en la escuela de Artes y Oficios de Úbeda y, con tan solo 16 años, volvió a poner en marcha el taller que su abuelo le había dejado.

DOCENCIA

A día de hoy está trabajando en la creación de un manual de alfarería para plasmar todo lo que ha conseguido aprender a lo largo de su trayectoria y así contribuir en la lucha para conservar este oficio tan noble y, sin embargo, hoy en día ya tan bizarro.
