DESCRIPCIÓN DE LA ACTIVIDAD REALIZADA

Antoni Coll desarrolla su actividad como marger desde hace veinte años. Su ejercicio profesional se centra en la recuperación de muros de piedra seca en mal estado de conservación y de cualquier tipo de construcciones realizadas en piedra en seco que requieran labores de mantenimiento, así como en la realización de trabajos de obra nueva.En los trabajos de mantenimiento y restauración, Antoni considera fundamental reutilizar las piedras caídas de la propia construcción, ya que las piedras empleadas en este tipo de construcciones varían en función del material disponible en cada zona. En caso de que no sea suficiente el material disponible a pie de obra, busca nueva piedra de características lo más parecidas posible a la original, ya que, además, el tipo de piedra condiciona en cierta medida las características del muro. La reparación comienza con la limpieza del entorno y la retirada de maleza para, a continuación, proceder al desmontaje de las piezas inestables del muro hasta conseguir una base en buenas condiciones. Seguidamente se colocan las lienzas que marcan las directrices del muro y se procede a la reconstrucción del mismo empleando la piedra acopiada, ya sea la recuperada del propio muro o la nueva en caso necesario. Se construye en primer lugar el cajón que conforma el exterior del muro, colocando las piedras reproduciendo la técnica original de cada muro, esto es, más o menos careada en función del tipo de piedra, la tradición de la zona, etc. Cerrado el cajón, se rellena el interior con ripios y matacanes y se remata superiormente el muro.La técnica descrita para la restauración de marges es, en realidad, análoga a la que Antoni emplea para el resto de elementos de piedra en seco, así como en construcciones de nueva planta.

APRENDIZAJE

Procedente de una familia “payesa”, una vez finalizados sus estudios de enseñanza secundaria Antoni decidió involucrarse en el mundo de la piedra en seco, para lo que se formó en la Escuela-Taller del Consell Insular de Mallorca, donde adquirió su conocimiento sobre esta técnica gracias a los cursos teórico-prácticos recibidos.
TRABAJOS DESTACADOS
Ha realizado diversos trabajos a lo largo de toda la Sierra de Tramontana, entre los que destacan intervenciones realizadas en todo tipo de edificaciones y elementos etnológicos ligados a la arquitectura tradicional construidos con la técnica de piedra en seco o en mampostería, como es el caso de las neveras tradicionales.
