DESCRIPCIÓN DE LA ACTIVIDAD REALIZADA

Los hermanos Manuel Jesús y José Luis Sequera pertenecen a la cuarta generación familiar de carpinteros. Sin perder la esencia de lo artesanal, realizan todo tipo de trabajos relacionados con la madera, con especial interés en el campo de la restauración y reproducción de puertas, mobiliario antiguo y de diseño propio.En la fabricación de puertas usan las técnicas tradicionales: caja y espiga acuñada, peinazería achaflanada, moldurada, agramilada, con cuarterones lisos o tallados. Los materiales que utilizan son la madera de pino Flandes y, para los cuarterones, el cedro, el roble o el nogal. En general, si es posible, intentan reutilizarlas de derribo, incluyendo también herrajes recuperados.Otra sección importante en su taller es la ebanistería, realizando todo tipo de mobiliario, ya sea reproduciendo modelos anteriores o de diseño propio. Las maderas más utilizadas por ellos en ebanistería son el nogal español, cerezo, cedro, pino Flandes y roble. En cuanto a las técnicas de construcción, son las que sus antepasados les enseñaron.Utilizan siempre herramientas manuales: cepillos, bastrenes, cuchillas de ebanista, etc. Para los acabados tradicionales, utilizan ceras, aceites, goma laca, dorados, policromados, etc.Reconocen que es con la restauración con lo que más disfrutan, devolviendo la belleza a piezas que fueron creada en tiempos pasados, respetando su creación y las técnicas constructivas con las que fueron ejecutadas.

APRENDIZAJE

Han aprendido de los conocimientos transmitidos de generación a generación, colaborando estrechamente con el maestro artesano Miguel Ángel Balmaseda y estudiando libros y tratados antiguos.
