DESCRIPCIÓN DE LA ACTIVIDAD REALIZADA

Cerámica Al Yarrar nació en 1983 en el granadino barrio del Albayzín, en un pequeño taller situado sobre el Bañuelo, frente a la Alhambra y a orillas del río Darro. Al frente de un grupo de artesanos, Bernardo Sánchez se propuso rescatar la tradición alfarera de Al-Ándalus. Tras varios años de trabajo sus piezas de cerámica y la decoración han alcanzado un estilo propio muy reconocido, siempre guardando la estructura básica de la cerámica andalusí. Actualmente el taller se encuentra en Atarfe, Granada.Trabajan en la recuperación del oficio de la cerámica andalusí y los diseños de la cerámica elaborada en Al-Ándalus entre los siglos X al XV. Su cerámica es elaborada según las técnicas tradicionales de bicocción o mayólica, por medios completamente manuales.Realizan piezas de decoración; vajilla y piezas utilitarias del ajuar doméstico; azulejos; mosaicos al modo de los de la Alhambra; complementos de construcción y jardinería; trabajos de decoración interior y murales por encargo.También cuentan con una rama en esta empresa de construcción tradicional andalusí y mudéjar para rehabilitaciones, restauraciones y obra nueva.

APRENDIZAJE

Bernardo Sánchez comienza su formación con un curso de Artes y Oficios en Córdoba (1979-80). Se incorpora después a la Alfarería «Los Puntas» en Albox, Almería (1980-81). Las artes de la cal las aprende con el maestro Emilio Quiles en Mollina, Málaga, en 2001. Además, la práctica en su propio taller durante 40 años ha enriquecido de continuo su conocimiento del oficio.

DOCENCIA

Bernardo ha impartido cursos monográficos de alfarería y cerámica, “raku”, reflejos metálicos y esmaltes, en Coín (Málaga), en el Ayuntamiento de Granada y en su propio taller. Además, ha dado cursos de cerámica y diseño andalusí para grupos de educadores y escolares en Atarfe y La Puebla de Don Fadrique (Fundación Azzagra), en Granada. Ha formado a alumnos en prácticas de la Escuela de Artes y Oficios de Granada, el Centro Albaycin, la Escola Llotja de la Generalitat de Catalunya, la Academia de Bellas Artes de Lecce en Italia, la EF Educational Tours de Lucerna, Suiza, y la Escuela Superior de Arte y Diseño de Andalucía.
