DESCRIPCIÓN DE LA ACTIVIDAD REALIZADA

Alberto y Francisco Miguel Alameda Sevilla son hermanos que trabajan juntos en Cerámica Alameda, a la que se incorporan en los años 1997 y 2000 respectivamente, siendo la octava generación de alfareros. Su producción principalmente se desarrolla con las técnicas de la alfarería tradicional de Úbeda, que consiste en cerámica en monococción a 980 º C. Sus piezas se realizan en torno con barro rojo. Posteriormente, se les aplican engobes por baño o inmersión. Y, finalmente, se esmaltan con esmalte transparente. Las distintas tonalidades de sus trabajos se obtienen añadiendo diversos óxidos metálicos a los engobes.Algunas de las piezas que realizan son:
– Teja árabe: se hacen con el galápago poniendo encima de éste una plancha de arcilla. Ésta toma la forma de mayor a menor.
– Teja cordobesa: se hace en el torno, primero se hace un “vaso” al que luego se le da la vuelta para hacerle la abertura menor. Si es canal se aplasta. Posteriormente los tubos se cortan con lo que se obtienen dos tejas de cada uno.
– Teja de escama o florentina: se realizan con moldes de escayola que hacen ellos mismos. Las piezas del inicio son especiales para conseguir una línea recta en el alero.
– Baldosas con “grailla” o molde de madera, que se rellena de arcilla muy blanda, con lo que la merma en secado es considerable. A diferencia del adobe, no lleva paja revuelta en la arcilla y sí se cuece.
– Losas, losas de zócalo, piezas vierteaguas, remates, plafones semiesféricos y de punta de diamante.
-Decoración de azulejos con cuerda seca y otras técnicas.Aunque su oficio es la alfarería, las exigencias del mercado les llevaron a centrar gran parte de su producción en la elaboración de piezas enfocadas a la construcción, hasta el punto de que durante los últimos años éstas han representado casi la totalidad de la producción.Lo significativo de su trabajo es que fabrican cualquier tipo de pieza de cerámica tal y como se ha realizado a lo largo de la historia, con idénticos procesos y acabados a los empleados durante siglos, pero combinándolos con los avances en el sector.

APRENDIZAJE

Aprenden el oficio de mano de su padre Miguel Alameda Quesada. Previamente cursaron estudios de alfarería en la Escuela de Artes Aplicadas y Oficios Artísticos de Úbeda, aunque desde niños habían ayudado y trabajado en el taller familiar.
TRABAJOS DESTACADOS
Durante todos estos años han realizado tejas, azulejos, losas, apliques, remates, etc. para múltiples restauraciones e innumerables obras nuevas, encontrándose entre los más destacados:– Tejas de escama o florentinas para la cúpula de la torre restaurada del Hospital de Santiago de Úbeda, la iglesia de San Esteban de Santisteban del Puerto, la Ex–colegiata de Santiago Apóstol de Castellar y la torre del Castillo de la Guardia, en este último además de las tejas, vierteaguas y losas. Todas estas obras se localizan en la provincia de Jaén.
– Azulejos de 11 x 11 cm, así como el mismo azulejo con distintos “cortes” o formas, para un cliente privado de Cazorla dedicado a la restauración de casas.
– Baldosa manual, hecha con “grailla”, para el hotel Palacio de Úbeda 5 Estrellas Gran Lujo.
– Cartelería interior del Hotel Álvar Fáñez de Úbeda.
– Adobes para un horno panadero de leña.
– Mural de 1’80 x 5’20 m con una escena del Quijote para el Hostal Genaro en Socuéllamos, Ciudad Real.
