Aprendió el oficio trabajando desde joven con su padre y sus hermanos en Navarra ayudando en el taller familiar en Urbiola, Navarra. Sigue ampliando conocimientos a través de cursos especializados, encuentros de herreros, libros, y sobre todo experimentando.
