DESCRIPCIÓN DE LA ACTIVIDAD REALIZADA

David realiza empedrados con la técnica tradicional del enchinado cordobés.La parte más importante del proceso de enchinado es la selección del material, que será lo que dará carácter y belleza al empedrado. El tamaño de las chinas seleccionadas, obtenidas de las orillas del río Guadalquivir, es de 40 mm aproximadamente y de solo dos tonos, blancas y cremas (calcita) y negras (pizarra). La forma del guijarro es planal.Para la colación del empedrado, aplica una base de mortero de siete centímetros de grosor sobre la que colocan los cantos rodados, siempre disponiéndolos de manera vertical, según el diseño deseado. Éste permite multitud de posibilidades como, por ejemplo, jugar con la orientación de los guijarros produciendo efectos de sombreado.
Una vez colocado el material, se apisona para nivelar el empedrado, se riega con agua todo el pavimento y, para finalizar, se aplica una lechada de mortero sobre toda la superficie y se riega para limpiar el empedrado.En el mortero tradicional se emplean la cal y la arena. Los empedrados con cal y arena transpiran mejor que los que incorporan el cemento. Esto permite que en los patios tradicionales se genere un microclima y se regule mejor la temperatura, aumentando la sensación de frescor.Las herramientas que utilizan son palas, reglas, pisón, hilos y nivel de mano.
