DESCRIPCIÓN DE LA ACTIVIDAD REALIZADA

Javier Pedrola forma parte de una familia que buscó la forma rentabilizar un bien común como es el caso de las cañas. Para ello, aprendieron a usarlas dentro del mundo de la construcción, desarrollando las técnicas tradicionales que se utilizaban en la provincia de Zaragoza.Javier desarrolla todos los trabajos propios de un cañicero, desde la tala hasta la puesta en obra, pasando por el corte, el secado o el atado.Prácticamente la totalidad de sus trabajos se localizan en obras privadas en las que las cañas son utilizadas para construir tabiques, techumbres y cubiertas. Para ello realiza mallas entrecruzadas utilizando cañas enteras o partidas por la mitad. En algunos casos cuentan con un revestimiento y otras veces quedan vistas.También se utiliza para la construcción de zancadas de escaleras, utilizándolas como encofrado perdido sobre la que se vierte el yeso que al endurecer termina formando la zancada de la escalera.

El conocimiento de estas técnicas lo ha recibido a través de las enseñanzas de su padre.

DOCENCIA

Su actividad docente se ha centrado en las provincias de Zaragoza, Tarragona y Castellón, donde ha realizado numerosos talleres y demostraciones en ferias y mercados.
