DESCRIPCIÓN DE LA ACTIVIDAD REALIZADA

Escayolas Beansi ofrece un amplio catálogo de materiales relacionados con el yeso y la escayola en todos sus estilos. Se caracteriza por una fabricación artesanal que realiza elementos artesanales por encargo y restaura piezas deterioradas. Se trata de una empresa perteneciente al proyecto Redalh y a la guía de artesanos del Instituto Andaluz del Patrimonio Histórico.
Cuando se trata de una talla nueva, se procede a pasarla del dibujo a realizarla en arcilla. Una vez en arcilla, se fabrica un molde que, dependiendo de lo compleja que sea la pieza, se fabricará en escayola, poliéster o silicona. Este último material es muy útil por su elasticidad y resistencia. Cuando se trata de restauración de piezas se procede a la fabricación de un molde, intentando que la nueva pieza sea idéntica a la original. Luego la fabricamos de nuevo dándole un grado de dureza considerable, aprovechando los productos que hay en el mercado para ello, como por ejemplo mezclando escayola, marmolina e hidrofugante, técnica que se utiliza para la decoración en fachadas. Cuando se trata de fabricación de una pieza que no lleve tallado (lisa) se hace mediante la fabricación de una terraja, es decir, recortando la silueta en una chapa metálica reforzada con madera y vertiendo la masa de escayola en una mesa. Después se pasa la terraja las veces que sean necesarias para conseguir un buen acabado.
PRENDIZAJE:
En junio del año 75 José Muñoz Ruiz empieza como aprendiz en un pequeño taller de escayola en la localidad de Astigarraga, cerca de San Sebastián. Tras unos años como autónomo en la colocación de escayola fue contratado en la empresa Jocarpe Calahorra, en La Rioja, en la cual siguió formándose en el proceso de fabricación, introduciendo por entonces la tecnología. Trabajó en esa empresa durante los años ochenta y noventa, fecha en la que se establece en su ciudad natal, Granada, donde conoce a los propietarios de Escayolas Beansi, quienes le ofrecen quedarse con el negocio después de unos años trabajando en su taller. Hasta el momento lleva 15 años al frente de Escayolas Beansi.
Maestro más influyente: Francisco Rebollo, encargado que tuvo en San Sebastián, ya fallecido.DOCENCIA:
Esta empresa tiene un acuerdo con la universidad de Granada para que alumnos de la Facultad de Bellas Artes realicen su proceso de prácticas.
