APRENDIZAJE

Los inicios de José Cándido en la forja datan de su infancia, en el taller familiar, compatibilizando el trabajo en la fragua con los estudios. En 1978 realiza su primera exposición en su pueblo natal de Noia (La Coruña), seguida de exposiciones en Santiago de Compostela y Madrid. Su obra «desenclavo» fue seleccionada para participar en la IV Bienal Internacional de Arte de Pontevedra. Se forma además en el «International College of French Wrought Iron Work» en Chemin de Reims, Francia, donde aprende y perfecciona técnicas de repujado y relieve junto con su aplicación desde diferentes perspectivas, a trabajos de estilo Louis XV y Louis XVI del s. XVIII francés. En 1985 viaja a Nueva York, donde residirá hasta el año 2000, trabajando con varios artesanos y empresas de forja artística. Así, después de una rigurosa selección, pasa a formar parte del equipo de «master craftsmen» (maestros artesanos) de «Les Metaliers Champenois, (L.M.C Corporation)», empresa que restaura la estatua de la libertad de Nueva York. Además participa en la restauración de la estatua monumental del «Civic Fame» de Nueva York. Colabora con «James Garvey Studio» en la construcción de una gran cúpula de hierro forjado, con abrazaderas anudadas en bronce y gran cruz central con terminado chapado en oro de 24k, para el interior de la catedral «St. Michael Church» en Amsterdan Av., Nueva York. En el año 1998, José Cándido es invitado a formar parte del equipo de «Manhattan Artisans Inc,», como «master craftsman» (maestro artesano), realizando trabajos clásicos y contemporáneos para residencias privadas, edificios públicos, hoteles, boutiques, etc.
