DESCRIPCIÓN DE LA ACTIVIDAD REALIZADA

Juan Antonio Orellana realiza empedrado y empedrado artístico granadino, siguiendo el siguiente proceso:
PASO 1. Mezcla de arena y cemento en proporción de mitad de arena y mitad de cemento. PASO 2. Se extiende la mezcla seca de arena y cemento en el lugar donde se realizará el empedrado. Se extiende la mezcla de arena y cemento en seco, sin añadir agua, en el lugar. PASO 3. Se alisa la capa de mezcla seca y se dibuja el motivo con el dedo. Sobre el dibujo se van colocando las piedras, las negras de canto y ordenadas, y las blancas de forma desordenada pero ocupando todo el espacio libre. Se maestrea la capa de mezcla en seco y se dibuja el motivo con el dedo. Sobre el dibujo se va colocando la piedra negra o «laja», de canto y formando espiga (ésta es la característica que distingue al empedrado artístico granadino de otros pavimentos ornamentales), y las blancas rellenando el fondo.
PASO 4. Una vez terminada la colocación de la piedra se compacta con una pieza de madera llamada «pisón» sin dejar ni un sólo lugar sin hacerlo, para conseguir que todas las piedras queden al mismo nivel. Una vez realizada la operación de compactación y nivelación, se procede al fraguado en seco del empedrado y a un segundo apisonado. La selección del material es algo importante y básico a la vez. Por un lado hay que buscar un material que sea muy duradero en el tiempo y que aguante un desgaste y una fricción al paso de personas, vehículos pesados, etc. A la vez tiene que ser un material que por su naturaleza compositiva sea estable física y químicamente, que no presente problemas ante el agua, y se comporte bien con agentes químicos que se puedan generar en los suelos de las calles de cualquier ciudad. Además de todo ello debe de ser un material que unidos todos ellos entre sí, puedan generar una superficie plana que sea fácil y cómoda de pisar para los viandantes. Por todas estas razones, el material utilizado son los cantos rodados o piedras de río o ramblas. Son piedras ricas en cuarzo, muy poco porosas que no dejan entrar sales y humedades, y cuyos bordes exteriores están redondeados por el desgaste del tiempo, lo que los hace ideales para ser utilizados en estos suelos. Materiales: Piedra blanca (guijos), Piedra negra (laja), Cemento y Arena
Herramientas: palustra, flexómetro, tablilla, maceta, taco de madera, hilo de obra, pala y rodillo, espuerta, manguera de agua y regadera, cepillos de barrer y lápiz de obra.También realiza mosaicos de teselas.
Herramientas: cortador de azulejos, tenazas rusas, tenazas planas, lima o asperón, lápices, goma, palustres, brochas y pinceles, tijeras, espuertas, cepillo de pelo duro, esponja y plantillas de dibujo
Materiales: azulejos de distintos colores, marmolina, cemento blanco, papel de embalar, cola de carpintero, rejilla de acero soldado de 1 cm. de malla, tableros de contraplacado de 50 x 50 cms., listones de madera de 3 x3 cm. de sección, lápices de colores, plástico y escayola.
