DESCRIPCIÓN DE LA ACTIVIDAD REALIZADA

Ladrillos Viceira y Muñoz está situada en Las Gabias (Granada), un pueblo con una gran tradición tejarera al menos desde tiempos de los árabes, siendo allí el único tejar artesanal que sigue en funcionamiento. Se dedica a la fabricación de ladrillos, solerías de barro y azulejería artesanal, habiendo permanecido su elaboración inalterable con el paso de los años.En la fabricación de ladrillos y solerías siguen utilizando el método tradicional: en primer lugar, se trae la arcilla de las canteras situadas cerca de la fábrica. Luego se hace la mezcla de arcilla y agua en unas charcas habilitadas para tal fin. Posteriormente se vierte el barro en unos bancos. De allí el trabajador introduce el barro en unos moldes de madera, corta con una “flecha” el barro sobrante y posteriormente vuelca las piezas en el mantillo (suelo habilitado), para que se sequen al aire. Una vez secas, se colocan en los hornos árabes (una de sus reliquias), para adquirir diversas tonalidades según su disposición en el mismo.Otro ámbito en el que trabajan es el del azulejo artesanal, siendo asesorados desde el principio por Isidro (un gran alfarero de tradición). Para la elaboración de los azulejos utilizan arcillas más refinadas, moldeadas y secadas al aire, que se cuecen en el horno a 980º. Una vez cocidas, para darles el color deseado, sus artesanos utilizan sus propias formulaciones y las bañan en baldes pieza por pieza. Si hay que decorar la pieza, utilizan plantillas de acetato para plasmar con carboncillo el motivo deseado y pintarlas luego con pincel una a una.Otra actividad que realizan es la reconstrucción de piezas (ladrillos, tejas, azulejería, solerías) para restauraciones.

Esta empresa la fundó José Manuel Viceira Povedano en 1992, el cual siempre ha estado ligado al mundo de la cerámica e inculcó su pasión por el barro a sus hijos.
