DESCRIPCIÓN DE LA ACTIVIDAD REALIZADA

Este taller se dedica a la carpintería de madera, siendo su especialidad los hórreos y paneras asturianos, así como la carpintería de armar tradicional asturiana. Ha llevado a cabo restauraciones de hórreos y paneras asturianos y tendejos, casetas, cubiertas de viviendas, mobiliario, carros del país, etc.Su seña de identidad es el respeto no sólo de las técnicas tradicionales de construcción con madera, sino también el cuidado en las proporciones y los materiales utilizados tradicionalmente. De esta manera, utilizan siempre que es posible madera de castaño y roble para realizar los trabajos, ya que es el material original, noble y duradero por excelencia. También son fieles al sistema de cubrición original: teja árabe, pizarra o cubierta vegetal, lo que normalmente depende de la zona en la que trabajen. Además, no utilizan clavos metálicos siempre que sea posible, pues los taninos del castaño corroen con los años al hierro. En su lugar, utilizan ensambladuras de carpintería tradicional y clavazones con tornos de madera.
