APRENDIZAJE

En la familia, desde niño. Sus maestros fueron su abuelo y su padre. Ya con cinco años, al salir de la escuela, «empilaba» (paquetes de tabla cruzada para secar) «parquelita», como llamaban a la tablilla que salía cada día de la sierra artesanal de castaño de su abuelo, donde también se preparaban maderas para la restauración de muchos hórreos y paneras. Posteriormente, trabajando y trabajando, la estructura de madera se convirtió en su pasión.
TRABAJOS DESTACADOS
– Construcción de hórreos y paneras por la Península y fuera de ella.
– Reparación de hórreos y paneras de los siglos XVII y XVIII, y también posiblemente otros anteriores, pero no están fechados. Muchos hórreos y paneras reparados, y cada uno especial y diferente, como lo eran los maestros que en su día los construyeron. Recibieron un premio por la reparación de un hórreo en León, que destacaba por lo peculiar de la caja. En la República Dominicana construyeron un hórreo de dos metros de altura sobre pegollos, sin amarre alguno, solo el de su peso, sobre una superficie mínima de apoyo, que año tras año se enfrenta y supera fuertes tormentas tropicales para asombro de los lugareños.
– Construcción y reparación de algunos molinos de agua.
– Reconstrucción de vigas maestras de armar sin sustituir, mediante rayo de Júpiter, eliminando la zona dañada.
