DESCRIPCIÓN DE LA ACTIVIDAD REALIZADA

El taller comenzó su andadura en 2006 y está compuesto por Manuel Jurado Moreno (Cabra, 1983) y Miguel Ortiz Cabello (Córdoba, 1984).Debido a los pequeños encargos que les llegaban, empezaron a incorporar nuevas técnicas de talla y a investigar sobre las posibilidades que ofrece la materia. Tras éste periodo inicial, les encargaron trabajos de mayor envergadura, tanto pasos procesionales y retablos, como elementos decorativos de diversa índole.Sus inquietudes siempre les han llevado a indagar en las técnicas tradicionales que numerosos entalladores han seguido a lo largo de la historia, tanto en la propia talla como en el dibujo o la arquitectura. Especial interés han puesto en la recuperación de los estilos históricos dentro de las artes aplicadas, hoy prácticamente en desuso, lo que les ha permitido disfrutar y desarrollar su creatividad, siempre teniendo un gran respeto por el oficio y su historia.Todo el proceso de creación es una combinación de disciplinas indisociables, que no funcionan de manera autónoma, como la arquitectura, el diseño, la propia talla, la historia del arte e incluso el cálculo matemático, que dan como resultado final un trabajo unitario, y que permite en muchos casos resolver piezas desaparecidas, o crear otras que nacen con el deseo de la perfecta integración en su entorno.Su método de trabajo se inicia con un estudio iconológico y estilístico del proyecto, plasmándolo gráficamente en un boceto, definiendo de ésta manera los aspectos y detalles de la obra futura. Posteriormente, se realizan los planos a escala natural para construir la carpintería. Una vez realizada en madera y dividida en piezas (a base de duelas ensambladas), se talla cada parte con gubias siguiendo el diseño que previamente se ha dibujado. Cada trabajo requiere un tipo de madera con unas características específicas, dependiendo del uso de y lugar de éste.

APRENDIZAJE

Tras recibir estudios básicos y superiores, durante los años 2003 y 2004 inician su formación en la Escuela-Taller “La Merced IV” de la Diputación de Córdoba, integrando parte del equipo de reconstrucción de un retablo perdido del s. XVIII. Es allí, donde empiezan a compartir y exponer ideas en común, iniciándose en el trabajo con gubias y planos, desarrollando procesos creativos y procedimentales para llevar a cabo un retablo de más de veintiséis metros de altura. Posteriormente, les es concedida la beca “Leonardo Da Vinci”, gracias a la cual trabajan en intervenciones retablísticas en Veszprém (Hungría) y Viena. A partir de ese momento su formación es autodidacta, ya que no son muy numerosos los talleres de talla en madera existentes que permiten el aprendizaje de esta especialidad.
TRABAJOS DESTACADOS
Algunos de los proyectos más destacados son: el Retablo de La Sagrada Cena (Córdoba), el Paso procesional de la Hdad. Buen Suceso (Córdoba), el Paso procesional de la Hdad. del Prendimiento (Córdoba), el Cancel de la Parroquia de Sto. Domingo de Cabra (Córdoba), el Retablo del Sagrado Corazón (Cabra) y el Retablo Mayor de la Iglesia de San Roque (Córdoba), entre otros proyectos finalizados o en fase de ejecución.
