DESCRIPCIÓN DE LA ACTIVIDAD REALIZADA

El trabajo que desarrolla Talleres la Fragua de Mora se basa en la herrería, la forja, la cerrajería y la carpintería metálica. Realizan todo tipo de trabajos, pues es un taller rural y tienen un gran abanico de tareas a realizar, aunque su especialidad y pasión es la forja artística, donde su reto ha sido siempre el lograr efectuar cualquier trabajo que les propongan sus clientes: rejas y balcones, herrajes para puertas, barrotes, barandillas, puertas, cancelas, apliques y lámparas, acero corten, acero inoxidable, artículos de forja de cualquier tipo, restauración de elementos de hierro o acero, iniciación en escultura metálica, reproducción de objetos forjados…, en resumen, cualquier trabajo que está relacionado con el metal, y que se pueda trabajar en la fragua.Su fragua, aunque sigue la línea tradicional, ha ido innovando en técnicas y medios para adaptarse a las necesidades de hoy. Las técnicas y los procesos utilizados en el taller son varios: el diseño; la línea de corte; el calentado del hierro en fragua de carbón y/u horno de gas propano; moldeado en yunque y/o martillo pilón; distintos tipos de soldadura (de hilo, de electrodo, a la calda, con tig, con soplete, en frío); técnicas de perforado, rajado, retorcido, estirado, templado y revenido, moldeado, doblado, y otras tantas menores que ayudan a forjar una pieza. Como ejemplo de innovación sobre los métodos tradicionales, la introducción del horno de gas propano, que ha servido para poder trabajar varias piezas a la vez sin riesgo de quemarse por altas temperaturas; o la adquisición de una punzonadora, que facilita algunos trabajos de corte y punzonado en el hierro; o la soldadura de hilo y de tig, fundamental en muchos trabajos donde se requieren uniones de precisión.Los materiales usados de origen férrico son: hierro, acero, acero corrugado, acero inoxidable y acero corten; y los no férricos usados son: cobre, aluminio y latón. Todos ellos son a veces combinados con madera o cristal.

APRENDIZAJE

Talleres la Fragua de Mora está formado por dos socios, Fernando Cortel y Álvaro Salvador, ambos residentes en la comarca de Gúdar – Javalambre.En el caso de Álvaro, su afición por el trabajo en hierro le viene desde su infancia, cuando pasaba largos ratos en la herrería particular de su tío Manuel Villanueva, que, con el oficio de arrastrador de madera, era él mismo quien se hacía y reparaba los aperos y herrajes, estando de ayudante Álvaro en muchas ocasiones.En el caso de Fernando, la tradición herrera en su familia la encontramos desde el año 1915, cuando su abuelo Daniel Cortel trabajó en la herrería de su hermano Miguel Cortel. Miguel aprendió el oficio de herrero en tierras levantinas y abrió su taller en Mora de Rubielos.
Los hijos de Miguel, Joaquín y Miguel Cortel, heredaron el oficio y la herrería, y fue allí, ya jubilados, donde Fernando compartió algún rato de fragua y largas conversaciones sobre el tema, cultivando el interés por el trabajo en hierro.Tanto Álvaro como Fernando fueron formándose profesionalmente en sus oficios, el primero como oficial de construcción y el segundo en el sector del metal, trabajando como soldador y herrero en varios talleres. Finalmente, y motivados por la demanda en productos metálicos para la construcción, se lanzan a la apertura, el 10 de enero de 2005, de Talleres la Fragua de Mora, ofreciendo servicios de carpintería metálica, soldadura, mantenimiento y herrería.Sus canales de aprendizaje, aparte de ser autodidactas y de haber consultado varios libros sobre técnicas de forjado, los han obtenido a través de los maestros herreros José Luis Fajardo (Segorbe, Castellón) y Thomas Mink (Alcalá de Henares, Madrid), los cuales en charlas y cursos les transmitieron su conocimiento, y, sobre todo, les contagiaron el amor por este oficio.
