DESCRIPCIÓN DE LA ACTIVIDAD REALIZADA

La Teulera Tejar Bandrís está dirigida por Antonio Bauzá, que forma parte de la tercera generación de ceramistas de la familia Bauzá. La historia de esta empresa comenzó hace más de 50 años con su abuelo Antonio, que tenía unas canteras de arcilla cerca de Manacor (Mallorca) y más tarde adquirió el tejar. Cuando Antonio Bauzá heredó la empresa de su padre, quiso volver a poner en valor la artesanía popular, rescatando productos de la construcción mallorquina que se estaban perdiendo, como la bóveda curva de barro, aunque a su vez innovando y desarrollando productos más actuales.Emplean los materiales tradicionales: agua, arcilla y fuego de leña. La materia prima utilizada es una arcilla de primera calidad que proviene de su propia cantera. Esta arcilla, por sus peculiares características y sobre todo por su gran elasticidad, permite la fabricación de cualquier tipo de pieza de barro.Todos sus productos son notablemente naturales y ecológicos. Cada pieza es cocida a fuego lento, lo que permite un mayor grosor en las piezas cuando se requiere y unas mayores durabilidad y calidad. Su dedicación y buen hacer les permitió adquirir el título de «Mestre artesà teuler» nº 884 -Maestros artesanos de la teja-, otorgado por el Consell de Mallorca, entre otros reconocimientos artesanales y de calidad.Actualmente, en la Teulera Tejar Bandrís trabajan seis artesanos que colaboran juntos para conseguir dar calidad y distinción a los productos que elaboran, ya sean elementos decorativos u otros elementos constructivos propios de la arquitectura tradicional. Entre sus trabajos existe una gran variedad de piezas, como peldaños de gran formato, fiolas vierteaguas, bovedillas curvas o planas mallorquinas, baldosas, rodapiés, tovas, rosetones, borduras, botelleros, celosías, tejas clásicas, canales y tubos de barro con sus complementos, todo tipo de decoración y elementos de jardinería, y también arcillas elaboradas para otros artesanos de las islas. Además, los conocimientos técnicos y formales del barro cocido han posibilitado a la Teulera Tejar Bandrís trabajar con prestigiosos arquitectos y decoradores, para quienes han diseñado elementos y piezas a medida para sus proyectos.

APRENDIZAJE

Antonio ha heredado el conocimiento del oficio de su familia. Forma parte de la tercera generación de ceramistas. También ha aprendido de otros artesanos.
TRABAJOS DESTACADOS
– Restauración de casas históricas en Mallorca y en otras provincias de España, como posesiones, masías y cortijos. Entre ellos cabe destacar la recuperación de Raixa en Mallorca.
– Reformas y rehabilitaciones de hoteles rurales, agroturismos y bodegas de vino.
